Welcome
Hi, and welcome to Audio Prep.
Encompassing 450 words often found on the GRE®, this application is designed to enhance your learning of GRE vocabulary efficiently and effectively.
Over 50% of the words come with mnemonics to make memorization easier, while others are organized into categories and by etymology, all to give you an edge when taking the GRE verbal section.
One of the most unique aspects of our application is the auto-playback feature. Each word, as well as its associated sentence and mnemonic, is accompanied with a sound file. The application is set up to allow you to listen to these sound files while getting on with your daily life. This means you can study while walking, driving, exercising, cooking, etc. Just because your hands and eyes are occupied doesnt mean you cant be improving your GRE score.
This will also help for: GMAT, SAT, SSAT, PSAT, and ACT
Functions
My List
Some words are easier to memorize than others. This function helps you with those that arent. Easily place words into a customizable “My List,” allowing you to focus on vocabulary words which are giving you trouble. Read your list. Study your list. Listen to your list.
Mnemonics
Puns, wordplay, rhymes, homonyms...you may roll your eyes more than a few times while studying and listening, but all that eye strain will pay off when you breeze through the GRE verbal without breaking a sweat. Like all sample sentences, these mnemonics provide proper context for the word...with something extra to help trigger your memory. My personal favorite: The poison Cleopatra put in my cup envenomed me against her for the rest of her reign.
Etymology
Sometimes, the easiest way to learn words is to understand where they come from. Many of the words from the GRE have their roots in Greek and Latin, and weve created a list of just such words. In addition to learning GRE vocabulary, youll also be able to familiarize yourself with important root words, further enhancing your GRE learning experience.
Categories
Words are nothing without the ideas associated with them. We understand that, and we want you to understand that, too. Thinking of words as belonging to categories, such as “Words concerned with truth,” youll have an easier time recalling them when it comes time to take the GRE.
Customization
Everybody studies differently, and we dont want to restrict anybody from studying the way they want to. Mute all audio, or just the definition (or word, or sample sentence). Hide the definition (or word, or sample sentence) when looking at the flashcards. Even remove words all together (of course, you can add them back if you start feeling like playing it safe).
Quiz
What study application is complete without a quiz function? We didnt know, so we added one. Take randomly generated quizzes whenever you feel like checking on your progress.
Other Uses
While this application was designed to help you prepare for your GRE, many other standardized tests utilize word banks similar to the GREs. Whether you are preparing for business school (GMAT), university (SAT, ACT), or private high schools (SSAT), we want to help you succeed.
